We met in the 1990s while living and working in Mexico. During our time there, we owned and operated dive shops on the Yucatán Peninsula, led and managed Guinness World Record cave diving teams, and taught SCUBA, including PADI instructor-level courses and NACD cave diving certifications. We also founded Nohoch Productions before eventually returning to the United States to raise the next generation - twin boys, who return every summer to Mexico and work with their brothers who own Nohoch Surf, Skate & Camp.
IGRA (International Goat Racing Association)
season will start Spring 2025.
After raising kids, global adventures, exploring the worlds longest underwater cave (1990 - 2000), and successful careers in film, television, live-event production, marketing, and public relations, it is time to start our next adventure. We wanted to be active and outside, work with animals, rescue all the dogs, slow down, and live at earth speed. With our lived experience in education, mitigation, and preparedness for wildfires, we recognized the value of goats and sheep (ruminants) in creating community resilience, supporting ecological restoration, and improving the health of the land and environment. We have both loved goats and talked about having them for years. Then tragedy hit.
Stoked Goats became the beginning of our grief journey which started when Liam (4 of 5) was killed in a motorcycle accident the night before Thanksgiving in 2023. We struggled with whether to openly share our grief journey but ultimately recognized the importance of authenticity. If our story can offer support to someone else navigating grief, then sharing it is worthwhile. Regardless, this is us—honoring Liam every day through our commitment to our family, friends, communities and planet.
Community is playing an increasingly important role in wildfire and disaster preparedness. So, how can we build a sense of "community" before disaster strikes? How can we collaborate to tackle climate challenges together? And how do we make community gardens and regenerative agriculture a top priority? Can building community be the start of a healthy eco-system and culture?
